Phase A: Site Analysis & Concept Exploration

Two selected projects each quarter in Southern California

Each quarter, LASD Studio reserves two Phase A commissions for properties where thoughtful landscape design can create exceptional ecological, architectural or experiential value as part of our own initiative and LASD studio Mission.

For each project selected through this program, LASD Studio contributes $2,500 from its internal project-development “start budget” toward Phase A: Site Analysis and Concept Exploration.

The selected client’s professional fee is minimum $2,000 with applied $2,500 LASD Studio contribution.

By reserving only two opportunities each quarter, LASD Studio can invest directly in properties with strong ecological, architectural or transformational potential.

A Professional First Step

Some of the strongest landscapes begin with the right questions - not an immediate commitment to the complete design process.

Phase A: Site Analysis & Conceptual Landscape Design provides a focused professional study of your property. It allows our studio to understand the site, identify its opportunities and constraints, explore meaningful design directions and establish whether a larger collaboration should follow.

This is not a simplified online garden package. It is the same serious first stage of LASD Studio’s landscape design process, offered to two carefully selected projects each quarter.

Why LASD Studio Offers This Program

LASD Studio dedicates a limited portion of its quarterly design capacity to properties where our work could make a particularly meaningful difference.

By limiting the initiative to two projects, the studio can absorb part of the normal professional fee while giving selected owners a more accessible way to begin with rigorous site analysis and conceptual design.

We look for properties with strong potential for ecological restoration, architectural integration, outdoor living or long-term landscape transformation that is part of LASD Studio Mission.

Selection is based on project fit - not on who submits first. Selected projects would be posted on our social media for the clarity and public responsibility.

Our Landscape Design Process

Our work is structured in clear phases, allowing precision, coordination, and continuity from concept to construction. Here is our Landscape Design Working Process:

Phase A. Site Analysis & Conceptual Landscape Design

Value: Conceptual clarity of the design and overall construction budget

Phase B. Design Development & Technical Documentation

Value: Detailed design with specs of previously defined concept

Phase C. Permitting & Regulatory Coordination (when required)

Value: Permitting of the design when required

Phase D. Construction and/or Construction Administration

Value: Implementation and supervision of the construction

This phased approach allows the work to remain precise, adaptable, and grounded in the realities of the site as it unfolds over time.

The Selected Project Fee

For projects accepted through this quarterly initiative LASD Studio would cover 2500$ of the Phase A designing budget.

The selected fee does not reduce the professional attention or conceptual depth of the engagement. The scope remains carefully defined so the work can be completed responsibly.

Who This Program Is For?

The program is intended for property owners who:
1) Value ecology, spatial experience, craftsmanship and enduring design;

2) Are open to continuing into Phase B when the conceptual direction is successful;
3) Willing to open the garden for the ocasional public visits.

Projects may include private gardens, estates, historic properties, ecological restorations and other landscapes with exceptional design & sustainability potential.

How Selection Works?

1. Tell Us About the Property

Complete the project-consideration form with your location, priorities, approximate property size, anticipated construction investment and available documentation below.

2. Studio Review

LASD Studio reviews the property, scope, schedule and alignment with our areas of expertise.

3. Introductory Conversation

When the project appears to be a strong candidate, we arrange a short conversation with the principal decision-makers.

4. Phase A Commission

Selected clients receive the Phase A agreement and initial invoice. The project enters the studio schedule once the agreement and first payment are received.

Phase A normally develops over approximately four to five weeks after the required information and site access have been provided.

Tell Us About Your Property

We would be pleased to understand what you are hoping to create, restore or transform.

Submission does not guarantee selection. If the two current quarterly commissions have already been reserved, suitable projects may be considered for the following quarter, please allow waiting time.

Request for Project Consideration

LASD Studio allocates $2,500 of its internal design resources to each selected project. Accepted clients begin Phase A with a minimum $2,000 design fee commitment.

Next step is 20 minute online consultation with Lead Designer of LASD Studio.

All inquiries are reviewed privately, with responses within one to two business days. We prepare for every consultation and ask the same of you - a confirmed time and a questions about your ideas. There is no obligation to proceed.
